It’s made to look older than it actually is. Screw threads weren’t really a thing until the 19th century. So this contraption isn’t a medieval torture device.
Most outlandish torture things like iron maidens weren’t really used but were 19th century people making up medieval torture fantasy stuff.
Good point. I always assume that these contraptions are pieces of art, and not actual historical artifacts. But this one is not presented as such.
This reminds me of the relationship between big tech and its subjects (users)
