Multiple LCD screens in train carriages would have been significantly less common in 2003.
That contextualizes the whole thing much better for me. I’ve never seen a train interior like this before. It looked like a clear table with something on top of it to me. No idea why it would be displaying the time.
The other screen in the background says 2023 (rather blurrily)
