You can be an introvert and be talkative, and you can be an extrovert and be shy.

It’s all how you recharge your social battery.

I consider myself to be an introvert, but I’m very talkative in social situations. Sometimes I can’t shut the fuck up. When I’m done hanging out though, I’m sitting in a dark room for a few days playing video games not hanging with anyone.

I worked with a guy who drove 50 miles to come into the office just so he could be around people, but hardly said anything to anyone.

I’m the same, I like my space and the ability to distance myself but when I’m in the mood I can talk and socialize for hours. Then I withdraw for a while

I know I do this but it’s so hard not to. I (don’t, according to the psych) have ADHD, or am very close to it. I am so painfully aware of how annoying I am, and yet it seems impossible to not be annoying. I always ask people to literally tell me to shut up when I’m too much.

I’m 38 and finally came to the conclusion that myself, my older brother, and my mom all have ADHD (they have the hyperactive form mixed with inattention, but I’m just inattentive), I’m the only one treating mine though.

Both my mom and my brother will randomly butt into conversations or end it mid conversation. I’ll be talking to my dad about something and my mom will need one of us and just butt in without waiting for one of us to stop talking. My brother will just straight up change the topic mid conversation by saying “not to cut you off, but…” or if he wants to go smoke a cigarette he can’t really wait and will just be like “hold on…” and just leave mid conversation.

He has a 4 year old daughter and she definitely has it as well, the kid has the attention span of a goldfish. She’s also an only child so attention needs to be on her 24/7, she literally will just talk to her herself talk. She’ll be like “Daddy!.. Daddy!..DADDY!..” and finally he’ll acknowledge her and She’ll just be like “Umm…ummm…uhh…” and then say nothing 🤣

That sounds exactly like how we talk in my family. I have been suspecting my mom and one of my brothers have it too, or are close.

I’m sorry for hijacking the autism post with ADHD. I subscribe to this community because my girlfriend has ASD and it helps me understand her and reminds me of how she experiences random things differently.

I find that I like to do things alone with others… (for real; not making a joke)
