Breaking: Helldivers face deadlier odds! Roaming bands of Shriekers AND Automaton gunship patrols have been observed.
But our valiant soldiers stand strong against these airborne adversaries to save our citizens.
Roaming gunships are so much harder than roaming Shriekers haha.
I like the idea of these patrols, but gunship patrols should be a bit smaller, we were getting overwhelmed on diff 8 with patrols of 4-6 that would overlap. I guess that’s also a sign we need to adjust our loadouts more than anything, but I hope it points towards better AA stratagems in the future.
The gunships are tough because even one patrol requires 3 Anti-Tank shots to wipe them out. You can also use the Scorcher, but it’s like a full mag per ship.

used a buddy’s purifier last night and it took ~4-5 shots i think to bring one down. not sure it has many other redeeming qualities yet. I’ll have to unlock mine and play it more.
I used it and I really want to like it. The big explosion radius is so nice. The charge time kept getting me killed by chaff enemies though. I’ll have to try relying on my secondary more.
Two well placed Autocannon shots or several more poorly placed ones can do it.
Haha I definitely noticed that second part with the poorly aimed shots. The free Autocannon stratagem was cool to get me to try it a bit.
I got attacked by a roaming squad of gunships and I was like “PROTECT ME MY CHILDREN” and threw down two sentries while hiding behind a rock.

They only spawn as an operation modifier. The operation modifier to look for is the one that is cut off. You can only see the top half of the icon, and no text.
Oh no, does this mean they don’t need to spawn from their respective towers anymore?
Yep, I’ve had gunship patrols spawn on missions with no towers on difficulty 8 fwiw
