Plan is install Proxmox, windows 10 vm for bro’s daily use, and a Proxmox Backup Server vm for a remote 3rd backup of my 2 PVE’s at home. Besides tailscale and ssh, what else would you initially set up for both your own benefit, as well as ease of remote maintenance and control?

Just setup VDI for him and give him a RPi 4, no need to use local hardware when he can work with his Windows 10 from anywhere.
