Yeah, but like… You really should be showering every day. If someone is telling you to do it, You’ve likely gone too long.

Showering has never become a habit for me. Hygiene has never become a habit. I have to physically make myself do those things and often enough, I don’t have the spoons to do them

Leave your cell phone in the shower and only use it after you take it. Force them changes.

Meds organizer on top of your phone in the morning with a bottle of water right there. No more missing meds.

But you still have to both remember and be motivated to leave your phone in the shower, or put your meds on top of it.

Yep, it’s all about those initial steps though. Once you start that routine it’s hard to break and becomes part of the ADHD ‘ocd needs to be in its right place’ habit.

Depression meds will help with the same thing. It’s always that initial push though which is why taking meds right away when you wake up is so important. Once you get it as automatic as putting on your glasses — while also ynderstanding what the meds are doing — it helps.

I don’t have routines though. I can get a routine going for maybe a few weeks, but if anything interrupts it, it’s over.

I’m not on ADHD meds yet though, so hopefully they’ll help.

Do you actually need to shower every day? Or is it just a cultural thing that doesn’t really have any basis in science?

I mean, if you’re not doing much or straining yourself all day, you don’t really sweat or get dirty.

It’s on the to do list. which means it’ll get done

    sometime

when I remember I have a to do list and the things above it on the todo list are actually a lower priority than this or can’t be done right now

This is the most relatable thing I’ve read today, which is really saying something considering the multiple hours I’ve spent on Lemmy so far, a platform full of relatable posts.

Sometimes I have a hard time telling when ADHD memes are sincere expressions of a shared experience or people putting thier friends on blast.
