I currently use the Local send app to send files wirelessly between devices.

Its max speed is ~3.5mbps when sending on a 2.4ghz wifi mode and ~5mbps on 5ghz. If I turn off encryption it can reach 10-26mbps of transfer speeds with 5ghz wifi.

Is there a faster way aside from usb data cable transfer?

I have tried nearby share and found it unreliable and slower. Total commander wifi transfer is not functional on android 13.

Files I transfer can be a gig in size.

    Depends on your situation if thats useful but almost all Android phones support Ethernet USB Adapters. If you got a cable you can plug into you can get great numbers when moving stuff to a network drive.

      Yes, USB data cable should be faster. I was wondering about fast, reliable transfer options without wires.

    Have you tried to see whether it’s not just simply one of your phones’ WiFi chip and/or your router that are the bottlenecks here? You could host a basic HTTP server on a PC in your local network, put some big file in there, and then try to download it with your phone.

    IMO LocalSend is great, I’d be really surprised if it was significantly slower than other WiFi file transfer methods.

      There’s an open GitHub issue which states encryption slows the download. Turning off encryption speeds up the transfer which has been true in my experience too.
