The link that gets generated when sharing a post or comment is not recognized by the app.

So if I send a link to a mate and then click it myself (or he does, doesnt matter), then the browser-app opens instead of the jerboa app.

Is there a possibility of fixing this? Or is it not possible because of the different instances which generate different urls?

    Oh, thats disappointing.

Couldn’t one have a list of all instances and from that direct it to the app? Like links to youtube get opened by the YT app? Any lemmy.ml/… , lemmy.world/… , and so on get opened by the “lemmy-app” which is installed.

Or doesnt this work like this?

Could work but would need frequent updates, as new instances are created (or rise in popularity).

Jerboa does maintain a list of instances for you to select how to open in the app - list here and see my other comment on how to pick the instances you want.

The list can be updated with this generation script, it seems to get all the Lemmy instances with at least 50 users from fediverse.observer.

That would just be centralization again. Someone could attack that one site and bring the whole lemmyverse down.

But I wonder if that list could be federated?

not really - all it would do is be annoying to open links in apps. probably temporarily, as another would spring up
