Well, he probably won’t be thinking outside the box.

    I’ll show myself out.

Such a clearly defined reality. While obviously limited (from our perspective). Might engender a great certainty in one’s opinions.

      No ambiguity=no uncertainty.

You’re describing Plato’s allegory of the cave.

And it’s everything for that person, it’s all they ever knew.

    Check out city of ember.

I’m focusing on what such a state does to the way you see and know.

Yeah, your entire opinion on life is created by the experiences around you.

The book city of ember explores that but instead of a person it’s the entire city.

If all hia friends are stuck in this box with him as well, theres a good amount of psychological studies pointing toward they will all try to kill each other within 6 months to a year, possibly less.

It’s a metaphorical box. A limited and clearly-defined reality. Containing all that is.

Does it contain a pick up truck?

        Or an aircraft carrier?

Your metaphor does not make any sense with your clarification.

    Perspective: shoebox.

Values: likely shoebox-based, or perhaps worshipping the ever-present AC

Science: science as a set of principles and methods for understanding the physical world wouldn’t be affected by a man or men in a shoebox.

We kind of have examples of this. People with limited experience struggle to put themselves outside what they know.

Well he must have some knowledge of a world outside of his shoebox, because obviously he’s getting food from somewhere and healthcare needs are being met. So I’d imagine he’d feel very resentful and confined and wondering what he’d done to deserve such a fate.

He’d be full of imaginative ideas, to be sure, and maybe even develop a sense of intuition beyond what people who are fed information all the time ever are able to develop. And I’m sure he’d be unable to form any real sense of belonging or empathy. Other than that - who knows what could happen.
