I’m right there with you. I’m generally quiet around new people because I want to get a feel for them. So my silence plus my resting bitch face means most people see me as an asshole until I get comfortable enough to speak casually.

I have removed the uncivil comments in this discussion. Please remember rule 1 and keep it civil.

Not you, THE MASTERMIND. You are fine. And I think you’re mysterious! You are a puzzle for me to solve and I am terrible at solving puzzles so it will probably take me a long time to think about until I forget about it tomorrow.

It’s not your fault. You have resting enigma face.

I’ve been told by coworkers “I thought you were an asshole because you didn’t talk to me for like a week when I first started” several times.

I have nothing to say, so I say nothing. When I do have something to say, I will say it. It doesn’t have to be more complicated than that. I just don’t feel the desire to fill silence with idle chat when I’m at work.

His eyes hold a glint that could be a concealed wisdom or a harbinger of thoughts best left unspoken. The shadows seem to cling to him, as if drawn by the gravity of a story untold. The mustache above his lip is a deliberate mark of distinction, setting him apart, a relic of another era perhaps, or a choice that defies the norms.
