The Sovs only attacked NATO because they thought the surprise action would get them to an immediate stalemate that would allow them to steamroll the oil producing countries in the middle east. I can’t imagine any aggressor that could hope to hold an active-conflict stalemate with NATO period. Except maybe the US. Who’s gonna write the script for a rogue-state US fighting NATO?
