We have upgraded to the latest stable version of Lemmy! You can view all the changes in the announcement page.

An important note for this instance:

We are now using ubergeek77’s multiarch Docker image (thank you!). Prior to this, we were using masquernya’s build script to build our own images which usually took a while. If you encounter any issues while using or interacting with AniSocial, please let us know in this thread or send us an email to help@ani.social.

P.S. We received a lot of new registrations over the past week. Welcome to AniSocial! We hope you enjoy your stay here!

This announcement will be pinned for seven (7) days since the initial posting.

Hey, just an FYI from lemmy.world.

Lemmy.world was hacked due to an XSS vulnerability, something about emojis that ultimately lead to the hacker being able to post an “evil post” that will execute Javascript. They used this vulnerability to steal admin-accounts and the like (or at least, their cookies, enabling some random out there to be able to post like an Admin for a few hours). There’s a bunch of information about the lemmy.world hack here: https://lemmy.world/post/1290412, the mitigations and so forth. Please stay safe!

This ani.social instance looks pretty cool, I’ll probably be lurking around in the background.

Thanks! I believe ani.social isn’t affected by this exploit because we don’t have any custom emojis enabled. I saw many instances have upgraded to the latest RC that fixes the problem (although lemmy.ml hasn’t probably because they don’t have custom emojis?) so I might do the same.

Thanks for coming over to ani.social! Hope you like it here and please feel free to contribute posts/comments if you like!
