          Yes, but that’s the case regardless. My message going through has always depended on someone else’s cell towers, all the random routers and switches in between, and the other person’s device.
          My server likely has worse uptime, and if I’m hosting from home it probably has more hops to transit through it.

          But the same thing is true of both Facebook Messenger and discord and while signal collects nearly no metadata, both FB messenger and discord collect as much metadata as possible.

      Sure, the privacy focused company is literally the same as the one who wants to mine everything about you so much that their latest product can’t even go live in EU.

      I’m pretty satisfied with simplex at this point, even without self hosting the back end. But I do really like that I can host the server myself if I do get sketched out.
