Not necessarily. A lot of the time they are projects hurting for donations. You can always opt out or use a temporary email service.
An example is HaikuOS. I like supporting alternative operating systems but I wouldn’t want to sign up for Libreapay.
It requires a sign up. I believe it uses Stripe and PayPal for payment processing as well. It does allow you to do one time donations privately and it has decent terms and conditions though.
