worldbuilding
Plus a few points if you cram all that into young adult fiction so that the kids get their first exposure to that stuff without their parents knowing. Looking at you Heinlein.
“Would incest be okay if we could guarantee no reinforcement of bad recessives?”
“I want space travel, to live forever, and make an AI human for… Reasons.”
“Get off my lawn, big government!”
That tracks.
“Is a polyamorous Martian sex cult really that weird?”
“Only veterans should be allowed to vote”
“It’s not gay if you’re in the body of my hot secretary”
“Gingers are better mmmkay”
- That way-off-in-left field plot point from the “creative” player’s backstory that the GM feels like they have to wedge in somewhere, so they kindof just stick it somewhere.
Or a series a cool ideas that would be better crammed into an encyclopedia than strung together into a story
Honestly thats my fantasy world in a nutshell
The three stages of reading this comment:
Heh.
Huh.
Uhh… shit
“The ogre allows you to cross, unpissed.”
This explains why the city harbor is run by a bunch of buff orc woman.
No need for these personal attacks, geez.
And here I thought political agenda is the power fantasy for getting at my kinks.
Explains why there are so many women leaders and femboys in my world.
That reminds me, I just started The Completionist Chronicles by Dakota Krout and it started off with some really weird Elon Musk fanfic… Fortunately I haven’t seen anymore but damn I was nearly nauseous.
Terry Goodkind and Piers Anthony over here raising a toast to that…
I was so disappointed when the Sword of Truth series turned out to be right wing propaganda. His take on communism was so dumb and obviously dishonest that even younger me would pause reading to roll my eyes. Until I got to the end of one book that was just Richard giving a pages long lecture, at which point I just skimmed to find out how the story ended and close out that story in my mind.
Actually, thinking back on the series now has me realizing it wasn’t just capitalist propaganda, it was outright fascist. Richard was an absolute dictator (after deposing the previous despot) that everyone had to swear their lives to otherwise the evil bad guy would invade their dreams. I had been casually trying to sell the books I have but maybe I should seal them away instead.
Though Piers Anthony is one I read when I was even younger. I hope you’re including him more for the fetish part than the politics, or that he at least wasn’t thinking similar to Goodkind. All I can remember from those books were puns, him giving credit for where he got the ideas for various puns, and one of them being nymphs are nymphomaniacs.
Piers Anthony’s books are packed with fetishy stuff including a surprising amount of fetishization of the young.
“Dare you enter my magical realm?”
Hope you guys are ready for my novel about ethnocentric dry bumming.
I concur!
