R is a consonant (indicating “a”) but also if you say the word R it starts with a vowel (indicating “an”) both look wrong :(

Read aloud, RTS is pronounced “are-tee-ess”, so it starts with a vowel sound, so it’s “an RTS”. The same rule also applies to regular words. For example, “an hour” is preferred because the “h” is silent.
