Lofty Pursuits has already perfect the flavor of altoid sours. Their lemon and tangerine flavors are spot on. They also have green apple, which is amazing, as well as blue raspberry!
Thanks for the rec. That whole shop looks amazing.
They have a great YouTube channel, too, with a whole series on how they developed their own sours!
You are most welcome! I’ve spent an embarrassing amount of money on them, I love them so much.
Wow what a disappointing headline. I actually gasped and was so excited, turns out it’s another hard-to-find recreation.
I can already spend $100USD and get them from Lofty Pursuits. What I was hoping for was the original; which is what the headline said.
Buried the lede with the return of Creme Savers, too! Can not wait until I get some of them classic sours, long awaited return.
the return of Creme Savers
Now that gets my attention.
My wife and I got some a couple weeks ago. They’re good, but not nearly as good as they used to be.
They’re now round instead of oval, and you can tell the molds they used are cheap, because there’s big, evident seams. The flavor is good, but a lot weaker than I remember it. Too heavy on the cream, not enough of the fruit flavor. Plus they’re like triple what they used to cost.
Still good, but not as good as they were.
Altoids Sours are returning to shelves with a new name—Retro Sours. And yes, they will be packed in those handy metal tins. Besides the name change, there is one other major difference. Retro Sours will be released by Iconic Candy and not Mars Wrigley.
“News”
In that way… it sort of is.
Ah, so it’s not so much “returning” as it is getting a remake. Different company producing, and doesn’t seem like they use the original recipes, but instead crowdsource it essentially.
Not complaining, because I’m totally going to get some, but for those that are hoping the OGs are making a comeback, they’re not.
Do Sobe next
Call me when they bring back something good like Dweebs or PB Crisps
“Retro Sours.”
Discontinued in 2010. Didn’t even exist until the 21st century.
Retro.
In the 90’s, bell-bottom jeans from the 1970’s were called “retro.” That’s only a 20 year difference. That’s only an extra 6 years compared to this example.
2010s were a million years ago, it’s very retro
