I haven’t read any colored version, but I generally tend to prefer black and white over coloured manga.
Proper colouring takes a lot of work, and with something that was drawn to be black and white, the contrast of the shading is higher than it would be in color, because it looks better.
To then color that would take a lot more work than is usually feasible, all shading would need complete redoing, but more often than not this isn’t properly done.
Now, if something was drawn in color in the first place, that’s when you get amazing results, though you see a lot more of that in western comics.
And I haven’t seen a colored DB volume, maybe they did good?
