Hi everyone, I’m having a little issue where certain items on a page will not zoom with the rest of the page. I’ve triple-checked to make sure I do not have “Zoom text only” checkmarked in settings, and I do not.
I did a search for “zoom” in about:config, but I don’t really know what any of them do for sure, so I don’t want to break something. I’ve also tried to do my due diligence by searching the web, but all I can find are people who had zoom text only selected accidentally, which is not my specific issue.
Here are some screenshots I took to help illustrate the issue:
Notice the cards pictured do not zoom with the rest of the page. I’m looking at a decklist on https://tappedout.net/ if anyone wants to try it.
That image has a
max-width:100%
css parameter, unticking that lets me zoom it. It has nothing to do with firefox, this is the way that website is written, it behaves the same way in any other browsers.I kind of suspected as much, although I didn’t want to install a non-Firefox browser just to check it. If there’s a way to change this in Firefox, such as an add-on or something, I was hoping someone might know a way around it.
If any browser has a workaround, I figure it’d be Firefox.
There are addons for this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/styl-us/
You can load custom css with userscripts. My favorite userscript manager is ViolentMonkey but there are others: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/violentmonkey/
That add-on looks great, thanks!
I didn’t know what the hell I was doing, but after some trial and error, I got it to behave as I would like.
Thank you so much for introducing me to this add-on.
W3schools has a very beginner friendly CSS tutorial: https://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp
You can learn the basics, it would help understand a bit more how the internet works, and solve issues like this.
I’ve been intending to learn more about this, but wasn’t sure where to start. I appreciate this.
Just taking a wild guess here. Maybe they’re bound to the screen width of the device rather than pixels? so they stay the same
Do you know if there’s any way to change this? Ultimately, what I’d really prefer would be a way to magnify the entire page, even if that means I have to slide a scrollbar. There are a ton of items regarding zoom in about:config, but my knowledge of web design is negligible.
As others said, this is normal behavior on desktop. However, Firefox does support the kind of zoom that you’re looking for, i.e. just scaling everything up like on mobile.
If you happen to have a touchscreen or touchpad, simply pinch with two fingers to get that kind of zoom, as you would do on a mobile screen.
If you’re using a scrollwheel instead, you can follow these instructions: https://superuser.com/a/1735635That’s great! I simply set mousewheel.with_control.action to 5, and it works perfectly!
