The series feels directionless right now. That’s the main issue for me right now, we don’t know what crazy hyjinks the gang will end up in the next time around, and the entire romance plot has been relegated to serve third fiddle to the majority of all chapters, we still get mentions like in the lamia arc or the last Suu chapter with the undine, but it’s nothing as significant as if it was the whole point of a chapter let alone the story.

Why does the story no longer have a romantic focus? or at least feels that way? we don’t really know and can only really assume, in my opinion Okayado is simply extending the life of the series for as long as possible and he rightly so probably sees the characters “settling down” as the natural endpoint of the series. Meaning he has to postpone it for as long as he wants the series to run, could he insert more romantic moments in the series? Hell yeah, there’s a series I’ve read a while ago called the tale of the wedding rings or something and it’s technically the same thing ( a harem of girls all in love with the same dude) It still has some hyjinks but it also manages to insert more romantic sort of moments every now and then. I do wish the series had more of that in it as well, but that’s the thing.

We really have no control over what happens in the story, I’ve always been of the opinion that Okaydo as the artis has the freedom to choose the direction he wants to take his series in, i my not always agree, but he’s the man with the pen and the one in control.
