I want to introduce some of my friends to Minecraft. They have never heard of it before and I am having trouble explaining them from the beginning since the scope of the game is very vast.
I want to give them a preview of the game before they start playing themselves, so I would prefer a video explaining the same. I tried to search for it on YouTube but I could personally find no video that could explain the premise and potential of the game from scratch. I tried to explain them via playing the game on my device too but that was of no meaningful help either since I have no personal worlds or builds to show.
Could someone please help me recommend some useful resource for this matter? I am sure they will come to love it once they get to properly understand it.
I wouldn’t call the scope of the game very large, the name itself sums it up. There’s a lot you can do, but it basically boils down to:
You mine, and you craft.
You mine to craft, and you craft to mine.
Food? Mine and craft to get stuff to farm.
Monsters? Mine and craft stuff to make weapons and armor.
Better weapons, armor, tools, etc? You betcha, keep mining and crafting.
If you try to go over every single thing they can do in the game, they will probably get overloaded. There is a lot of content, but part of the fun is discovering that stuff for the first time too.
This is pretty accurate and exactly why Minecraft is the prefect sandbox. There’s only two things you have to do. I’ve met people who’s most valuable item is their hoe, I’ve met people who subsist on rotten flesh and uncooked meat so they never have to stop killing. I myself make a writable journal as fast as I can to record the ever continuing travels of a multiverse hopping lich, settling on new planes and waiting for the inevitable cosmic end to catch up to him.
