Red alert! For the last six months, EFF, our supporters, and dozens of other groups have been sounding the alarm about several #BadInternetBills that have been put forward in Congress. We’ve made it clear that these bills are terrible ideas, but Congress is now considering packaging them together—possibly into must-pass legislation.
Children are one of their two go-to reasons for encroaching on civil liberties. If “won’t somebody please think of the children?” doesn’t work then they wrap it up in “terrorism ™️” and ram it through.
The sponsors of these bills truly have no shame, using children as pawns and the moral panic about drugs to encroach on our privacy.
I guarantee the legislators who support these bills also oppose legislation that could actually help children.
