Accelerationism is usually championed by people that have never experienced or are unfamiliar with the kinds of hardships it will precipitate.

The downfall of civilizations is rarely a good time.

Accelerationism doesn’t even make sense at the moment, if a revolution breaks out, it will be a free-for-all, with different groups trying to claim all the power. And judging by the results of the election, the majority of Americans either fully support or are fine with fascists winning. The working class has to be educated, has to have their consciousness built up before a revolution can actually go communist, otherwise you just end up with populism and fascism. It’s very shortsighted thinking.

If they are outside the US, actively in contest with it in some kind of zero-sum game, then I don’t have too much to say that’s upset with them.

If they are outside the US and angry about its imperialism, I think they have yet to learn that the US doesn’t have a monopoly on it, and some of the other brands are somehow even worse. But the temporary or permanent collapse of the US might still be a good thing for them, depending.

If they are in the US, and edgelording, then fuck ‘em. I don’t exactly wish on them what’s in store, but there is a certain grim anticipation, I guess, of the day they start to learn about the reality of what they’ve been talking about.

I think of it this way - I have sympathy for every innocent victim that fascism is about to claim, and I would oppose it even if it only hurt shitheads.

… but I have absolutely no sympathy for them. I oppose fascism’s damage to the innocent because fascism is bad and innocents don’t deserve it. I oppose fascism’s damage to the useful idiots only because fascism is bad.

They’re victims too. They had so much propaganda, and so much bad education, and so many legitimate grievances about a government that since the 1990s at least has mostly forgotten about them.

I try to be kind in my thinking. They might attack and someone might have to defend against them. They might get attacked by the same system they supported in the beginning. A lot of them are going to get hurt, some of them very badly. None of that is good, even a little bit. Some of it “has to happen” and some will just happen because it happens. But I don’t hold any of it against them nearly as much as I do against the people at the top that engineered this whole thing on purpose, with full awareness.

Well… if it makes you feel better, they’ll get punished, too. I think most of those people are unknowingly living within a very cushy society which has been set up and maintained for them, which is nearing its end, to be replaced by one much more difficult and dangerous.

Not sure yet what this “tankie” thing is about… It seems to be an american thing, and as far as I understand it is used to disqualify anyone not aligned with social democrat point of view (ie western world is the good ones, despite what the 70 last years show us, capitalism is the least worst system, and societal liberalism is a huge enough concession to leftism). Or am I wrong ?

“Tankie” refers to the kinds of people who like Soviet and Chinese style oligarchies because they paint themselves red. Often, these people are in opposition to all Western countries, and social democrats in particular, whom they think of as ‘social fascists’ and, in many cases, oppose social democrats more than actual right-wing opposition.

Tankie is a derogatory term for Marxist Leninists, people that call themselves communist but actually are in favour of dictatorships and oligarchies. The name come from the fact that they supported the tanks that were killing peaceful protesters in the Tianamen Square massacre in China. And asking a genuine question is fine, shouldn’t judge people for that.

The “tank” in tankie came from the support of the Soviet intervention in the Hungarian 1956 revolution, which itself had a lot of leftist elements, such as wanting to make those state owned “worker cooperatives” into real ones like they were before the 1950’s, not just state enterprises with a state-elected “factory principal” (CEO).
