This is such a shit take its almost still steaming hot.

Like what the fuck, just because asshead AAA and AAAA publishers brick their games on purpose (they work worse on winass as well) thats not a Linux thing. We need to shame the assheads responsible not shittalk Linux.

I’ve been daily driving Linux for a few years. I’ve had exactly one (1) game that wouldn’t run because of anti-cheat, and dozens that run great. And the Steam deck gaining popularity is only making things better and easier.

Been gaming on Linux for over a decade, definitely some stuff is a bit h but it’s surprising how much works flawlessly. Bought a steam deck a month ago and I’m very impressed with the polish and compatibility. I’ll be happy to see it keep selling. It’s a nice piece of hardware.

    • Video-only link.
    • No transcript, synopsis, or even point of view in the post.
    • Provocative click-bait title.

No thanks. I come to discussion forums for discussion and legitimate news, not to spend my time slogging through some influencer’s video to bolster their view count.

When they don’t respect my time enough to at least outline their key points in text, and there’s no obvious reason why the content must be video, I find that it’s vanishingly unlikely that they have anything interesting to say.

Yeah I thought the whole point of it being off youtube and on a non-income based platform meant they didn’t have to use such scummy tactics like clickbait

This person(?) does seem to like filling my front page with blind links :-\ I don’t really like blocking people(?) here but ugh, I’m not gonna go check a dozen pages a day just to find out what they are. … Actually this one seems to have taken over posting a link to every post from a particular news site after I blocked the last one. Dunno why any community needs that, the site itself surely has them all better presented.

Whatever, let’s see if another one pops up 🤷

There’s a transcript in the description and this is on tilvids, a FOSS fediverse platform which does not financially benefit the uploader

This video is a mirror of the YT channel. It is clickbait. On YT not only it works, it is mandatory. The Linux Experiment is that kind of channel, where the host has some interesting things to say once in a while, but is a poor communicator. He still thinks he has to abuse superlatives and be radically sensationalist just to get eyes on the video and earn an audience. I have watched a couple of videos of him but it was tiring hearing him speak idiocy upfront then try to add nuance to said idiocy. It is annoying and the worst kind of content.

An off-site transcript is no substitute for posting something of value in this forum. Lack of direct financial benefit from clicks makes no difference to any of the points I raised. (But as an aside, since you brought it up, “SUPPORT THE CHANNEL”!)

I have problems getting really old games to run. Especially Windows 95/98 games. I don’t care much for online slop. Most games I want to play work.

It works perfectly for me, but I don’t play online games. I hope they can get those games running in Linux so those folks can switch over.

Not being able to play the world’s most popular games, means most gamers aren’t ready for Linux yet.

    • FC25
    • GTA V
    • LOL
    • Fortnite

    And more.

I hate those games, but my kids want to play FC25, and for that… I still have a dreaded Windows PC.

I’m at work so I can’t really watch a video about this…but I don’t think I’ve had a problem running any recent game at all. The only one that comes to mind was the beta for monster hunter wilds, and I think that was sort of it’s own thing because the game was a mess for windows users too.

Also the new Derail Valley update is awesome and they’re working with valve to make it work even better on the steam deck.
