That gif is kind of disturbing to me. It doesn’t really seem like they’re having fun.
My wife’s aunt loves these things. She will talk your ear off about it. She knows about strategy for each one and has her favorites. And then you see her at one and it is only serious business. No time for chatting!

It’s funny, I learned recently that you don’t have to mash the button, you can just hold it down, but I still don’t trust it and mash anyway.
That used to cause a keyboard input error on boot so I’ve learned not to do it that way. Probably unnecessary since PS/2 keyboards aren’t really a thing anymore.
