  • Waiting a bit to see what shows actually hold, but currently only watching Spice & Wolf and Kaiju No. 8.

Spice & Wolf is perfect and is following the LNs almost exactly from my recollection.

Unfortunately Kaiju No. 8 is boring as hell. Despite having immense power capable of one-punching kaiju into showers of blood, the MC has spent 90% of their screen time being functionally useless. It’s just such a weird way to write an MC. I get 1 or 2 episodes, but nearly half of the 12 episode run? The pacing needs to pick up 10x. I’m not kidding. We should be seeing kaiju getting bodied every episode. The slow burn it’s trying to structure itself around is not happening at all. Boooooooooo. Pick it up!

  • The first “utility” frame I farmed. At that point I think I had Volt, Rhino, and maybe one other. When I finally built Ivara and went invisible for the first time I was absolutely hooked. You spend so much of the game flying through levels and gunning everything down indiscriminately, but with her you have to slow down and take a methodical approach. Was a cool experience as a low MR player to see that other styles of play were supported AND viable.

  • An unfortunate part of the fediverse is that it attracts people who were too obnoxious for even the more annoying parts of Reddit/Twitter/etc. I’ve made plenty of attempts to “get into” Mastodon and can confidently say that’s a miserable experience across the board if you aren’t willing to do the work to curate your feed. Even if you do get a feed that is free of bad actors, conversations rarely veer off-course from Linux, programming, computers, tech, etc., at which point that’s fine, I guess, but it’s hardly diverse. Also, for all the complaining about “techbros” ruining the fediverse, it sure is full of them.

I have more faith in Bluesky currently. If they’re able to achieve their own kind of federation then I’ll gladly jump ship since their userbase is a lot friendlier and more diverse that Mastodon IMO.
