There sure is a lot of shit out there that seems to expose kids to lead. If there were ever a conspiracy that I could believe almost immediately, it would be that hostile governments (or some other entity that benefits from poisoning our youth, I don’t know, I’m not a conspiracy scientist) are finding ways to put lead in all our products as a way to dumb us all down.
This reminds me of my ex, who stated “I HATE Wikipedia” because “it looks dumb” when I mentioned it in passing.
She really earned that “ex” title…

However, what now? We’re still staring down a shutdown very soon. I’d just like to know Hakeem’s got a plan, y’know?
What is the better alternative? What if there isnt a speaker by the time the stop gap measure expires?
I have this same question too, and - with all due respect - it would be nice if someone had a response other than blaming Republicans and just leaving it at that (I mean, it’s absolutely their fault, but it doesn’t answer the real question).
It would be nice to know Dems have a plan after taking this action. I’m fairly certain they do, but best I can do now is guess how it might play out. Not reassuring…
I can’t shake the bad feeling that the timing is going to be a real problem once shutdown time rolls around here in less than 40-ish days. What if we don’t even have a fucking speaker at all by then??
There is the possibility that Dems coordinate a vote with the not-Freedom Caucus GOP to elect the least disagreeable candidate, though…

I get it though. I want to see him barred from running for president for insurrecting and in cuffs and a jumpsuit for his myriad crimes about as much as anyone. However, if that means death by 1000 cuts rather than an immediate removal from society, I’ll take it.
Noticing a lot of people on Lemmy scoffing at this development, which I suppose is their right. But you know what? I see this as a real win; Trump Org no longer being able to operate in NY is a big fucking deal.
Yes, he’ll likely make up the difference through donations from his rabid base. No, they won’t know about it because the right wing disinfo machine won’t tell them.
So what? It’s a fucking win, nonetheless. It ain’t shooting him and his ill gotten gains into the sun, but it is very well the first of a series of deathblows.

Don’t waste your time keeping toxic “friends” around. People who exhibit behaviors that demonstrate a low maturity level at an age where they could/should have grown out of it twice aren’t going to by the time they drive you insane.

the Georgia Pardon and Parole board can consider a request to commute the sentence immediately, and can choose to reduce or eliminate any sentence handed down.

I cut my father out of my life just about 20 years ago. He was a selfish alcoholic, drug abuser (I like to have fun like anyone else, but I’m not about pawn my kid’s PlayStation when I don’t have the money to get the goods like my former father did), malingerer and overall shitty dad.
It took years not to let the traits I inherited from him hold me back and/or hurt others, but I can say I’m pretty fucking successful now; I have a dream job, dream home and will be marrying the love of my life next month.
Everything I have now is in spite of him and my shitty upbringing.
We will continue to be profit driven until profits arrive.
