  • Once again a fun episode, luckily the Dragon Ball charm is still working.

I thought the whole Minotaur bit was quite funny, especially after both the last preview and the actual opening feature him as a dangerous foe. I’m curious whether he will return, I’m guessing the opening won’t change anytime soon.

Glorio was finally confirmed to be the traitor he’s always been made out to be. Still, it’s been made so obvious, he could very well turn out to be a double agent or maybe even a bigger antagonist who’s just being opportunistic. His magic was interesting, it kind of reminded me of the thunder shock technique Roshi used to have. Also, while he may have lost, it’s impossible to say how strong he actually is. With magic types, it’s a matter of whether or not he actually used his strong techniques - there is no Ki to judge him by. The things he did use seemed to charge suspiciously long, like he wanted Goku to have some free openings. Of course, this being Dragon Ball, he could also just hide a transformation.

The Gendarmerie reminds me of the Red Ribbon Army, I’m curious what’s up with them. So far, we know they are collecting energy and have people in this demon realm marked with these rings. I didn’t notice it before, but quickly looking back, characters in earlier episodes all wore them. It’s kinda reminding me of the setup Big Mom from One Piece had in Whole Cake Island. It’s probably the most interesting thing to me in this episode.

Lastly, I’m also curious what’s up with the ship Bulma repaired. Did she fail because her brain actually did regress a bit? It’s hard to tell with Goku. But I guess, something had to happen, since they didn’t take Bulma with them and neither has the new guy arrieved yet.

So, what’s your point? Other people might have a lot more boring childhood anecdotes to tell, but it’s not like I’m suffering in any kind. I still remember people or useful skill - the stuff I do use.

As an added benefit of growing up quite poor, I probably just had less unique experiences I actually could recall. Like, I’ve been on three travel vacations overall. Kinda like those COVID years blurred together for most people.

Nah, it’s just shitty memory. I have had quite the happy childhood, actually.

I don’t find myself reminiscing a lot and in the rare cases I do, there are quite some gaps. Even in more recent times. If I really try to dig, maybe it comes back, but I assume it’s “use it or lose it”.

I couldn’t name a single street in the city I’ve been born in except the ones I lived in. I’ve learned to navigate the city before I could read and never bothered to read street names thereafter.

The same goes for every other city, my mental map of cities includes almost no street names. Maybe that’s because I don’t use cars at all, after all I could name bus stations and such (some of which are named after streets, I guess, but I’ve still got no idea about how they connect or even which street of an intersection actually has the name).

  • I guess my wish came true, and we’re done with setup episodes. The only thing still missing is a reoccurring villain - the original Dragon Ball was at its best with Piccolo, Tao Pai-Pai or General Blue.

I’m still not very interested in Glorio, but Panzy seems like a fun stand-in for Bulma. In fact, she seems so similar, I’m wondering why Bulma will join at all. Maybe both groups will be on their own adventure for the most part. The new alien guy joining up with Vegeta seems fun, I’m sure they will annoy each other to no end.

Goku almost went Super Saiyan and up until now nothing came close to a challenge. I guess it will be quite some time until they hit a wall, which is a shame, since training arcs are always my favorite ones.

Otherwise, there isn’t much to say. Shin still did nothing, they still lay it on thick about Glorio being suspicious and with the ship crashing after mere minutes, while funny, the episode ended where it began.

  • That approach may work for journalism and such, with a single person collecting primary sources and verifying them before writing an article. However, it does not work on the internet.

Instead of one person verifying the claim and adding further sources in an article, every single reader would have to do it. And anyone using the internet would have to do so hundreds of times every day. Nobody does that. It only makes sense to shift the burden of further proof onto the primary source or disregard it.

Does it though? There are plenty of countries with legal prostitution and I’ve never seen any statistics about illegal prostitution being on the rise there.

It’s one of those claims both sides could make and actually believe in. There might even be data for both sides, given enough cherry-picking that is.

  • It’s been a fun episode, like always. However, I think we’ve had enough setup episodes at this point. The next one will probably introduce the new girl properly and after that I’m ready to get the plot rolling.

That being said, there is still a lot of interesting stuff in there. I’m most curious about the fusion bugs - I hope we get some wacky combinations. Also, is it a third kind of fusion with new designs or would e.g. Goku + Vegeta result in either Vegitto or Gogeta?

Honestly, the anime isn’t even good. Like, I’m still reading the manga, but I had to stop watching the anime something like 10 years ago.

I’ve heard it has gotten better since then, but watching the whole thing still includes years worth of episodes so thinly streched you could probably watch every third one without missing anything. And that’s on top of arcs so long, they are even a slog to read through (Dressrosa and Wano).

  • Performance problems aside (menus take ages to load in), I like the game quite a bit. There is just so much stuff: 120 characters, two additional fighting systems for special events, a card game, a bayblade minigame, a castle/town upgrade system and probably much more - I’m not even halfway done. The combat is quite auto-attack heavy and therefore simple, but keep in mind I’m olaying with double MP cost for all abilities (one of the additional challanges to tweak your own difficulty, like the ones in Dragon Quest XI).

As for the EXP thing, there are a few things that happened to align for me. EXP works like this:

    • Each level requires 1000 EXP.
    • You get EXP based on level difference between you and your enemies. There is a maximum value of EXP a single enemy can give to usually prevent what happened to me - I think it’s about 1000 for most enemies.
    • If you get say 3000 EXP, that’s 3 level ups. Remaining EXP does not get adjusted upon each level up. That’s great since you can recruit 120 characters and if you miss someone at first, it does not take long to catch up if you want to use them.
    • You fight with 6 charaters. EXP is split between them, meaning you get more EXP per character if only e.g. 2 of them survive.

Now, what actually happened to me is: I fought a unique mini-boss encounter with 5 enemies. I was overall underleveled and got wiped twice. The third time however, I won with only my weakest character still standing - he was 8 level below my team average. He got about 1200 EXP for the level difference * 5 enemies * 6, since only he survived, resulting in about 35 level ups.
