Speaking as a Socialist, no, lmao.

First off, UBI’s are not Socialism. In fact, they are antithetical to Socialism. They are Social Democracy, which is objectively the moderate wing of Fascism, the standard borne by those who think we can make a better society by instituting ranked-choice voting, net neutrality, and a 32-hour workweek without ever looking past the symptoms into the actual problems inherent in the system.

Under Socialism, the vast, vast majority of science will be done (as it is/was, in the USSR and China) by government or government-funded research organizations, where materials are supplied to them and their research is guided by the public interest.

Cranks doing “science” in their garages and basements in their spare time will still just be cranks.

  • I’ve put about a hundred hours into Starfield so far and I’ve really enjoyed it once I sort of realized how you’re “supposed to” play the game, but yeah, it has serious flaws.

It’s just disappointing because Starfield has truly awesome potential - I love the ship-building, the combat feels great, exploring the unique dungeons (specially the space stations) is almost as fun as exploring dungeons in an Elder Scrolls game.

But all enemies basically feel the same; they’re guys with guns. And while different enemy types are more likely to use different types of guns, it doesn’t appear that any enemy type (pirates, ecliptics, va’ruun, even UC and Freestars) is hard-locked into certain weapons, which would help the different enemy types have more uniqueness.

The aliens are also horribly boring, especially since the vast majority aren’t even hostile and practically none pose any kind of threat.

  • I am not going to go into whether it’s right or not, but using the term “B*tching” may not be a slur, but it is still considered misogynistic in many cases, because it is comparing a negative action (complaining) with a misogynistic stereotype (the B*tch).

R*tard is a slur, but if you called something r*tarded, that would still be ableist and be rightfully removed. Many people believe that the same logic should apply to misogynistic slurs.

Whether you agree or not is up to you, but the developers’ logic for the filter being in the state it is is sound.

  • The problem isn’t gravity, it’s friction. The train would functionally be in orbit. The reason why things can’t be in orbit at ground level is not because of gravity but because of friction (incl. air resistance).

If you eliminated friction (vacuum tube, frictionless surface, etc.) you could indeed have the train moving without any additional energy after getting it up to speed (and if you get it up to orbital speeds, the frictionless surface isn’t even necessary). However, this isn’t really practical (obviously).

If there is a nugget of a good idea in here, it’s a train that never needs to accelerate or decelerate, just maintain a constant speed. Much of the energy of a train is lost in the stop-and-start.
