That’s the article that convinced me I didn’t want to run a Lemmy instance.

It most likely triple counts users like me. I have a Mastodon, kbin, and Lemmy account, (all under the same username), but those would be counted as 3 Fediverse accounts. I think the metrics to look at are posts and comments.
Not so fun fact: Benadryl™ and similar drugs have been linked to dementia in older patients. I found this out when my doc told me to quit taking it as a sleep aid.
I deleted 16 years worth of my ‘content’ across 6 handles and moved to Lemmy/kbin. When I do go back to check on Reddit, it’s easy to see that many of the better contributors are gone, the quality of comments and posts, as well as the voting on posts, has greatly diminished. Some subs barely have anything in their ‘new’ queues.
“Redditor for 16 years” which is how long ago Digg shat the bed. Reddit has followed in their footsteps.
I’ve used Affinity for many years, I really like it, and for the low one-time price, it’s been a spectacular value. That said, it can no longer even compare to Photoshop given their incredible AI capabilities and some of their other integrated features. In my case, I’ll stick with Affinity because I’m more of a hobbyist, but if I was a graphics professional, I’d most certainly have to use Photoshop.
Old Lemmy is the best thing I’ve seen in a while. I found it last week, and it’s absolutely cured my Reddit cravings.
Previously, it was “now there’s a blue heart when you click!” For some reason, it makes me feel sad watching these people/bots trick other people for a click.
Elon has clearly shown that I can trust him with my finances. I am excited to turn all my personal data and money over to his excellently designed software and highly ethical company. What could go wrong?
The “X” stands for Extortion.
I’m sure the ego-less CEOs in large corporations will take kindly to being extorted. (/s)
You can also see exactly which user downvoted a post, it’s in the log.
Me, too. I used it this morning and it was awesome. Hope they get it back up soon.
This made my day!
I switched to FF a few years ago when my Chrome was showing some bloat. FF works for almost everything, but from time to time some sites, forms, e-commerce, etc., have issues with non-Chrome browsers. In that event, I use Edge.
People are actively seeking alternatives to Reddit right now, not just because of Reddit’s draconian and short-sighted policies, but also because the quality of posts and comments has gone in the toilet lately. Also, the AI bots are becoming more and more obvious on Reddit. They have deployed an AI reply system into the comments, probably to make up for the decrease in traffic that could hurt their IPO.
I’ve referred numerous people here that want to leave the cesspool that Reddit has become. I’ve noticed a rapid shift in perception about the Fediverse. Just weeks ago, mentions of Lemmy and kbin would receive downvotes and negative comments. Now, they want to know more about alternatives.
You’re obviously the next Warhol, and this art installation deserves all the upboats.
Our local theater has huge heated leather seats, a fantastic sound system, and you can go to a matinée for $6 with popcorn included. I love Marcus Theaters, they do it right. Good food and drinks, too, delivered to your seat.
I have my homesteads in Lemmy and kbin staked out to beat the rush.
Google is fine for most people, but it shouldn’t be the sole backup. If you don’t have (at least) 3 separate instances of a backup, you don’t really have a reliable backup strategy. Preferably an onsite hard backup, an offsite hard backup, and a cloud backup.
