  • That’s not the author, but rather the illustrator.

That’s worse, because it’s him that made that manga, plot is rather banal and characters unmemorable, but the art was one of the best.

Thanks I’ll take a look, do you have any recommendations? I never really read any manhwa.

Infinite Levelling: Murim is pretty fun, guy get reincarnated and even gets the magic cheat system, but since he isn’t a modern gamer but medieval Chinese soldier he can’t even understand the terminology at the beginning. Next one is Peerless Dad, about dude getting back to martial arts while raising kids. Next one Volcanic Age, i would say archetypical high fantasy murim story. Finally, Chronicles Of Heavenly Demon, basically the same as above, but protagonist is on the other side of barricade and wants to destroy murim, also noteworthy because the author resisted all the flashy costumes and most people there just go around in historical clothes.

I kinda like murim manhwas because they are all set in China (usually in first century of Ming era but that can vary) and thus they don’t have the sinophobia included (unlike for example again Gamer which reeks of it and Infinite Levelling which also hints it often) and protagonists usually aren’t edgy bastards.

  • Even when a life-threatening hurricane is headed your way, there are many reasons why you might stay put. You might have dependent family members who can’t leave due to disabilities or other health-related reasons; you might not have reliable transportation to get to a safer area, and what’s more, no gas to get there. Sometimes, you simply refuse to leave your home and everything you own behind.

There’s also the reality of just not being able to afford it.

Every reason in the first paraghraph is still boiling down to the reason from second paragraph

Yes, i specifically didn’t said “WW2” but “WW2 era” because it seen little combat, but it was definitely tank entering production in time of WW2 and based on experience from WW2. Also, while it was relegated, it incorporated many revolutionary solutions and was instrumental for later development of soviet MBT.

  • Yeah, a rare Soviet L, i guess there were troubles in tax collection during NEP, since iirc it was implemented around that point. Still, the context of this tax in socialism and capitalism is kinda different, right now indirect taxes in general are main part of overall regressive tax system (like in Poland poor people pay total around 60% tax, rich one 20-30% and richest who know how much, probably even less). And Poland for example did not had VAT in socialism.

  • The history of Chinese Lego is btw really fun. Lego for years hesitated to build a factory in China, but ultimately stonks syndrome got them and they did. Shortly after, Chinese started to produce strangely similar bricks which are only minimally different by plastic composition, just enough to avoid lawsuit. Since then they also expanded offer on miniblocks (75% of size of ordinary) and microblocks (50% and still look great but dammit they make the fingers hurt).
And most importantly, they got not only copies of many rare lego sets but also many sets Lego never had, like the military including Soviet ones (tanks, planes and helis are relly good). They also make some from animes, movies etc, yesterday i seen complete model of Thousand Sunny from One Piece with all crew or the famous Pirate Ship from old Lego, but even bigger.
