let’s be real, if my comment ended at the fist paragraph you would’ve upvoted and moved on. Multiple comments in this thread belittle hexbear users as children as well, but you don’t have as much of negative reaction against that.

snarky know-it-alls that believe that they possess the most advanced political analysis derived almost exclusively from parroting reddit comments which have slowly turned their brains into velveeta

Hexbears are actually a nice bunch if you read through the comments on the current megathread. They just have very little tolerance for self-satisfied libs that congratulate themselves for thumping the Washington consensus-approved ideologies that most of hexbear graduated from years ago. Even I find it difficult to read lemmy comments because they’re legitimately what I would’ve written as a teenage redditor in the late 2000s.

This is at least the fourth time I’ve seen lemmitors do this. Righteously indignant about not knowing things.

I wouldn’t be surprised if you start to get bad faith actors signing up to your instance to intentionally wreck your reputation.

Other users have linked to good resources, but one thing I’d like to comment on is that people should be wary of overusing thought-terminating epithets. Communists also have this problem to some extent when they flippantly throw out the “fascist” label, but coming into the wider fediverse after the redditpocalypse, I’ve seen too many “discussions” that are essentially “authoritarian totalitarian fascist genocidal dictatorship upvotes to the left pls” which is an extremely reddit type of discourse that serves to shut down discussion before it even begins (they’re bad bad bad bad nothing to talk about).

I’m not accusing you of this because you’ve made a good faith effort to seek out constructive engagement. In most other cases though, I wish more people would investigate these claims like how you’re doing instead of salad tossing adjectives and relying purely on intuition and cultural conditioning.

honestly it’s probably a minor part of the decision. IMO the admins on world just seem like they wanna have the final say on things and felt threatened by the potential influence of a larger instance. If hexbear were as small as lemmygrad or newer than world, it probably wouldn’t have been a big deal for them.
