Is your entire system crashing?, for me i have to do a hard reboot once it happens. if it gets too bad i can always play the game in a windows VM as im playing with a friend and crashing all the time would be annoying
My rx 480 worked way better in terms of not crashing, it did have graphical glitches in games but i guessed thats down to using Wine. Im also using Arch so maybe that in combination with the 6650 is making it more unstable, i gotta revert to using LTS kernel every few months to stop my system crashing randomly
I dont have the error message atm unfortunately cause to have more disk space i set my system to delete the logs quite often (ill probably revert this now as ive got way more space), but the one part i do have is this “GCVM_L2_PROTECTION_FAULT_STATUS” , thats 95% of the times the error that shows up whenever my pc freezes
I looked it up and theres a bunch of mesa bugtracker issues listing the same error but honestly gpu driver stuff is so complex who knows whats really going on. baldurs gate 3 has crashed my whole system 3 times in 20-30 hours played, but except for that this past month ive also started getting blackscreens waking up from suspend sometimes on the non LTS kernel, luckily LTS fixes that for now, but not baldurs gate. The past year i’ve had this gpu theres been like 5 times where an update made the amd drivers unstable and ive had to change back to the LTS kernel to resolve it, maybe thats cause im using arch and stuff is more bleeding edge, but i havent had this many issues on my rx 480
I had an rx480 that worked fantasic until a firmware update made it start freezing my pc in games after suspend, solution was to rollback that package to an older one or never use suspend. I currently have a 6650xt and that just crashes whenever it wants to sometimes, works fine for a few months then decides to freeze my whole pc, playing bg3 atm it froze on me like 3 times already
Ive only ever used amd gpus and intel cpu, and the only hardware issue ive had is one gigabyte card having a firmware bug that killed it. amd always worked great on windows for me, but on linux they suffer from crashing quite often.
I run flatpak firefox and kde wayland and have no such issue
Wish i had 15 up, im getting 40 down 3 up. They started putting fiber down my street but not active yet, cant wait to go to 1 gig
Im sure that arch would probably cause more issues than mint in the long run, i was just saying Mint or any other beginner distros are not exactly 100% issue free as some would claim them to be
Not the guy you replied to but i put Mint on my uncles pc, tried to install some software and it just gave me some errors, tried fixing it for about 40 mins and gave up and just put windows on it. I had an Kubuntu install that just randomly killed itself after a few months as well. It worked fine for a while, then i restarted one day and wouldn’t boot giving some drive error, and i ended up moving to arch after that. Arch has been working very well for me and it has had issues but i could always solve them quite easily.
At the end of the day all linux distros are essentially running the same software, the only difference is the version of software you’re running, some update faster some slower.
It went from 1.5% to nearly 2% thats quite a big spike
I was just saying the memes are outdated here, not that i dont like lemmy as a whole
Nah im gonna talk to the ceo of lemmy right now and outlaw all these memes
Its like we went back in time 10 years moving from reddit to lemmy, the memes on lemmy are trash
Oh man i was thinking of getting one of these to replace my raspberry pi
Yeah you can can choose a language profile and download movies/tv whichever language you want
Im pretty sure all these apps got created just this month so they would obviously not be feature complete yet, when i joined the only apps were jerboa and mlem
Im not sure what kbins boost does or if theyre even the same as lemmy regarding this problem.
You could forcefully pull posts and comments into your instance by copying their original link and pasting it into your instances search, it will then federate to your instance after a few seconds but doing that for every post and comment would be stupid unless the admins cam somehow automate it
It does matter where your account is because instances will not federate communities until someone from that instance subscribes to that community, and then it only pulls 20 posts and no comments. It will then start pulling everything new thats being posted/commented on that community, but anything before that is basically gone. This means that if you join a new/low userbase instance you will be missing a lot of stuff that was posted, while the larger instances will have way more people subscribed to communities before you even joined therefore having a larger content pool
Secret i learned on my raspberry pi running stereo speakers on Kodi is you can set a seperate volume for the dialogue channel so i just bumped it up like 14 decibels and now it matches the action fairly well. You can set it from the audio settings inside the movie and its called something like center channel downmix i cant remember exactly
