I play D4, Last Epoch and PoE.

I enjoyed the D4 story for my first play through and the recent changes for season 4 have made levelling to endgame much more enjoyable. It is much simpler than PoE and I play it knowing that as something fun that I can pick up and put down at will.

Last Epoch I’m playing to try out each mastery. Even though it’s now a 1.0 release it’s still a bit barebones. Give it a couple of cycles and it’ll be more fleshed out especially in the endgame. I think of it as a middle ground between the simplicity of D4 and complexity of PoE. I like that I can easily try off meta builds through passive refunds and make my own builds.

PoE scratches the D2 itch for grinding. I’m an addict who like spreadsheets.

  • Just got out of seeing it in imax.

Just wow. One of the few movies that lived up to the hype and visually it is one of the most stunning films I have ever seen. The whole scene on Giedi Prime is otherworldly and sets the Harkonnens up as a malevolent force that is the complete opposite of the Atreides we see in the first film.

Only complaint is that while the first part was 99% faithful to the book, part two drops to about 90% and also cuts out what I think are pivotal scenes in the book. Still it was never going to be easy to choose what to drop without turning it into a 4 hour movie and overall it all works incredibly well.

  • That’s what I’ve literally just traded up to from a Pi. Prodesk 600 G3 comes standard with a 6 core i5 8500, has 4 full size ram slots, an m2 ssd slot and has a mount for 3.5” hdd, all drawing only 65w.

There’s a low profile one as well but then you’re stuck with sodimm, no space for a full size hdd and no pci-e slots.

I picked it up second hand for NZD 100 so I imagine it would be even cheaper in the states.

  • When inflation was above 5% the real interest rate (nominal interest rate minus inflation) was still negative, which is expansionary. Even now that inflation has cooled off it’s still only positive 2% which is not that high by historical standards.

Couple that with firms reopening, and taking staff off furlough, and it’s not really that surprising that a recession didn’t eventuate. This wasn’t the 70s and early 80s with stagflation.

  • The main endgame, Monolith of Fate where you run echos, is very easy when you complete the story. I’ve usually been under-levelled by 10+. They path off in different directions and have different rewards types (e.g. gloves) so you can target gear that you most need. In this respect it’s a much better system than PoE as there’s far less layers of rng. You also don’t have to worry about map sustain, the echos don’t cost any type of resource.

Once you’ve completed the level 90 timelines you start farming empowered echos and have control over the difficulty based on how far from the starting point you go. The main issue is that this gets pretty monotonous having gone through so many echos already to get to that point.

There are also dungeons which require keys. These are accessible much earlier on the game and you unlock new difficulty levels by completing it each time. Lowest level is 20 but keys are relatively rare at that stage.

  • There’s 3 factors you should take into account when trying to decide on resolution vs refresh rate:

    • Your graphics card
    • Your ideal monitor size
    • How far you sit from the monitor

If you’re going for a bigger screen (e.g 32”+) and sit close to the monitor then you’re going to want a higher resolution (1440p+). If it’s a 24” like the BenQ and it’s a couple of feet away from you, you’re probably better off prioritising refresh rate.

  • Yeah, sorry, I probably included too much irrelevant information.

I’d like the pihole to be available outside of my LAN. I believe I can do so by setting up an OpenVPN configuration on my router.

However, I have a server on the LAN that needs to have it’s traffic masked from my ISP as it handles my torrent and Usenet traffic. My primary question is whether having a VPN set up on my router will interfere with the commercial VPN on the server.
