Nature is healing
Use of Weapons is among my absolute favorite books. What an absolutely incredible journey
Oh damn yeah! The remap folks are FANTASTIC!
I mostly just follow the nextlander crew and Jeff Gerstmann. They aren’t much more than podcasts, there’s little to no written work produced, and they don’t really consider themselves gaming journalists, but that’s pretty much what we’re left with.
“Influencers” and corporate cash have largely killed games journalism.
But Simba voluntarily went into exile, de facto abdicating the throne to the next heir, which was Scar.
No pretending, Scar had a legitimate claim!
But the prince is a sniveling snot weasel! Now, the Dread Pirate Roberts is a real kick-ass role model
I didn’t find him particularly scary in Insomnia, but he was believable and his character had depth which meant a lot more in the context of the film.
Insomnia is still a bit underrated, buried in the larger Nolan canon. It’s an incredible and inventive crime drama, but probably (one of?) Nolan’s weakest. Which is to say it’s broadly only like an 8/10.
“Also what’s the ethical structure behind literally enslaving a species of creatures and forcing them to cook our meals and keep our homes?”
“Well Harry you see, they’re lesser than us and also they like it that way”
“…”
(Harry Potter? Not a great book series, from a not-great philosophical mind.)
I’m on Matter and I’m loving it! Player of Games and Use of Weapons are my favorites in the series so far but I’ve loved each of them for their own reasons (with the exception of the short story collection State of the Art, it was fine but the rest of the series is on a different level!)
Better than poop talk all day imo
We are taking the same approach and every word you said landed with me, matched my experience.
I’ll add that this is a VERY different strategy from the approaches taken by both my partner’s and my parents.
It’s not easy, but I think we’re raising better humans than ourselves. On days when it’s exhausting and you’re burned out and you feel like you can’t do it, cling to that.
You’re doing great. It’s worth it. Keep it up! 💚
