11·7 months agoTurkey and Greece exchanged each other’s ethnicities post WWI and War for Turkish independence, ethnic cleansing but not necessarily genocidal.
Yet for some reason there are 0 greeks in Turkey atm and 200k muslims in Greece, most of which selfidentify as ethnic turks. I wonder what happened, i guess we will never know. Oh wait, we do.

It’s not weird, greeks and turks have murdered shitload of each others civilians.
After Greece’s “Great Idea” plan(conquering Western Turkey) got crashed, Greece wanted to protect the surviving greeks in Turkey from further reprisals. So both sides decided to partially exchange populations while protecting the remaining minorities. Eventually(30 years later) Turkey decided they didnt want any greeks left in Turkey and violated the deal. Greece on the other hand just kept being shitty to ethnic turks living in Greece but at least they are mostly ok now.
Most greeks are aware of civilian turks getting murdered. I am not so sure turks are aware of the civilian greeks slaughtered. This “exchange” ended 3000+ year of continuous presence(with majority or almost majority percentages) of ethnic greeks in Anatolia(Western Turkey).
They are not genociding, they are just removing palestinians from areas, they are ethnic cleansing those areas. This is a pretty standard nation building tactic, except most, european, nations did it in the past, while Israel is doing it now. Azerbaijan did it too with their armenian enclave in Nagorno Karabakh. The armenians “voluntarily” left the region and now there are basically 0 armenians there.
Genocide focuses more on the destruction of people.
Their reboot of Unreal Tournament failed. And so did their moba named Paragon. Arguably, their Fortnite Save the World also failed. Gears of War Judgement had poor sales for a Gears game though that may have been mostly developed by People Can Fly.
Generally if we ignore Fortnite and Infinite Blade(a mobile game), their last successful game was Gears 3, from 12 years ago. They basically only have Fortnite, Unreal Engine and the Epic store.

1·9 months agoI didnt read the article but the benchmark numbers indicate that it is unfair to compare the settings based on their terminology. XeSS Balanced performs(as in fps) equally to FSR Quality. So no wonder when you compare XeSS Balanced with FSR Balanced, the XeSS will look better.
The reviewer should have normalized the comparisons for similar fps, not for whatever word term the option uses.
3·9 months agoNATO’s is not going to be part of Turkey’s geopolitical schemes. Nukes are needed in order to be on an even footing with the other regional powers(which will also have nukes). Even if Saudi Arabia/Iran never intend to nuke Turkey, they will be at an advantage.
Hard power translates to soft power. And if your regional opponents have nukes and you dont have nukes, you will be at a significant soft power disadvantage.
Btw Turkey is building its first nuclear power plant, with help from Russia. Saudi Arabia also intends to build nuclear power plants soon. Thats the first step to creating a nuclear weapon.

Those are US controlled nukes. And the US doesnt have the best relation with Turkey atm. They are there now, gone tomorrow. Turkey cant rely on american nukes. If other regional powers have nukes, they need to have nukes. And if Turkey has nukes, then Greece needs to have nukes for selfprotection.
Turkey gets to wave their dicks around and make demands at the big boy table despite being a complete joke of a country.
They have the 2nd biggest military in NATO, after the US, an immensely important geographical location and they are a regional power(along with Iran and Saudi Arabia).
And if Iran and Saudi Arabia get nukes, then Turkey will get nukes. And if Turkey gets nukes, then unless there is an EU army, Greece will want to get nukes.
161·10 months agoMaybe Volvo? Do note that Polestar cars are made in China, but Volvo ones should be made in Europe or US. I dont know how good the conditions in the american Volvo factory are but in Sweden, Volvo is considered a good employer. Volvo/Polestar are owned by Geely, which is a chinese company but Volvo is pretty independent.
I had fun playing mechwarrior 5 but i am not a mechwarrior fan. The only other mechwarrior game that i played was battletech(which is an xcom style strategy game) and that was great. Mw5 lacked the polish of battletech but it was still fun to have a customizable mech blowing things up. Mw5 has 83% on steam and it is also available on gamepass(and so is battletech).

I bought the game in 2013, refunded it in 2017. When i bought the game was because i wanted a spacesim and star citizen was basically my perfect game. I expected the game to be out by late 2016 or 2017, at least the singleplayer story.
Even now, i am still hopeful. I refunded because at that point they didnt need my money and it was ridiculous how the game was still nowhere near release. Also the game run like shit and the fun factor was too low, it was too much of a simulator.
I dont think it is a complete scam. It is obvious there has been an insane amount of effort gone into this game. Maybe part of the funds have been abused but they have been developing this game for over 10 years with 500+ devs and that is really expensive.
The demand is there, the supply hasnt caught. As i mentioned, in Gothenburg(which is Volvo’s HQ), there are tons of electric trucks and cargo bikes. Basically every day i see at least one truck like this one

Basically by 2030, most companies will have or purchase only electric vehicles. Scania is also making electric trucks like this

Just because the US is behind times, doesnt mean that the entire world is also like that. And if Volvo and Scania, 2 of the biggest truck manufacturers(and they are both swedish) have available electric trucks, then there are electric trucks. The only bottleneck is production. The demand is there but it takes time to scale up production of basically an entirely new vehicle. China is also going wild with electric vehicles, though i am not familiar with that market.
Honestly, i think we might start seeing bans on non electric vehicles for cities, at least in Europe. The noise and pollution reduction is significant and very perceivable.
Tesla can do whatever they want, who cares. Just like the tesla truck, they get all the hype but there are already tons of available electric trucks, available and selling, like the f150 electric. To say that they are still on development because tesla hasnt released theirs is silly.
Of course they are still on development, everything is always on development. But they are also available for purchase and they are being purchased. Not to the numbers that their conventional fuel counterparts, the production rate hasnt reached those levels yet, but still.
The bottleneck is the production, not the demand or viability. For last mile, at least here in Gothenburg, there are plenty of electric cargo bikes like this

EV trucks and vans are in development but battery technology isn’t quite there yet.
EV trucks are not in development, they are on sale and deployed. Especially last mile ones.

Electric vehicles make the city much more livable. Less noise and pollution.
It isnt just the electricity price, it’s also the noise and temperature. Especially if you dont have an aircondition, which most houses in northern Europe dont, gaming can be hellish in the summer. Playing AAA in complete silence and without sweating enhances the experience.
You can only play games that you already own on geforcenow, you dont get access to any “free” games. You can play steam games, origin, even some gamepass games(as long as you have a pc gamepass subscription). But again, the game selection is limited. It used to be unlimited but then the game publishers complained so now only approved games are available(1600 or so games).
The xbox cloud gaming is shit in comparison. First of all, it runs on xbox consoles, so you need to use a controller, cant use mouse and keyboard. Secondly, the latency and overall tech is at least a generation behind geforcenow. Then again, you get what you pay for. Xbox cloud is an extra 5€, geforcenow can be 20€ a month. Geforcenow has convinced me that cloud gaming is the future, it’s that good. Xbox cloud is “eh, ok, kinda cool that it kinda works”. I am somewhat playing starfield on the xbox cloud and it aint terrible.
I think i will buy cyberpunk and its expansion to play them on geforcenow. Honestly, if i could play all games on geforcenow, i dont think i would buy a new gpu. With cloud gaming, you not only not have to pay for the hardware, you also dont have to pay for the electricity, since you are only running a videostream on your end, which uses very little power and can be run on almost anything. Though when i tried gaming on my lg oled’s browser, it wasnt great, lots of issues, though it technically worked. Maybe it was some bluetooth fuckiness.
You might want to take a look at geforcenow, nvidia’s cloud gaming platform. It’s only disadvantage is that not all games are available there. But depending on your location, it can be better and cheaper. For 20€ a month, you get a pc with a 4080 gpu that would cost you like 2k to make. And that pc will get upgraded every few years for free.
I played the beta. I wouldnt call it a good game but it was a game that i enjoyed playing. Maybe i liked it because ever since i was a kid, i was always fascinated by mad max/waterworld. Having your own vehicle, roaming a hostile desert(or sea).
You have a customizable ship, you can build it how you want. And you have a base that can be built and upgraded. And a giant open world with a forgetful story and generic npc. The gameplay was ok, though the world of warships has infinitely superior naval combat. I think it is using similar to war thunder naval combat(same publisher), which is a bit too arcadey for my taste(not that world of warships is a simulator, but it is a more immersive experience).
