Alright, let’s get the uncomfortable bit out of the way in the beginning. The age gap present in the romances they are setting up is pretty extreme. I was hoping that they would skip forward in time a bit before having these guys start to fall for her. This is something that they do a bit better in “My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!” in that she starts living as a “villainess” when she is a child, but it isn’t really until she is older that the romance becomes more explicit. Also, the characters thirsting over Bakarina are closer to her in age. @rikka@ani.social

All that said, I like a lot of the rest of what they are doing in this show. She is such a dorky character that doesn’t seem to have any idea of what a villainess actually is. I mean, would a true villainess try really hard to better herself and talk back to the king in order to advocate for a more equitable society? Acquire medicine in cognito in order to aid sick children inside magic prison? You know this kid is going to somehow end up in her employ soon, possibly Will as well.

Though she seems to have a warped sense of what a villainess actually is, she is definitely doing her best to embody the platonic ideal of a villainess. I am hoping that we jump forward in time soon.
