EDIT: Nominations are now closed and are being tallied. Voting starts on the 23rd.

Hello everyone!

It’s the season of [Thing] Of The Year Awards and since we don’t want anyone to suffer from FOMO (mostly me) we are having a

Lightnovel of the Year Award

That’s right, Bookworms. We’re going to get salty! There will be two rounds. A nomination round starts right now, and a final voting round starts on the 23rd. Each will run for a week, and the winners will be announced on New Year’s Eve.

The categories are:

  • Best Volume
  • Best Debut
  • Best Protagonist
  • Best Antagonist
  • Best Supporting Character
  • Best Couple or Duo
  • Best Author
  • Best Illustrator
  • Best Worldbuilding
  • Best Overall Series
  • Bonus: Best Emotional Moment [Name, Volume and Chapter to keep it spoiler-free]

You can nominate the same entry for multiple categories. Eligible is every volume that released in 2024. Please be so nice and include the name of the series where the entries belong to to make it easier for us.

So head on over to the Nomination Round and tell us what Lightnovel made your year.

Also, Myne wouldn’t be cheating and vote several times, so do as Myne does! (It’s okay though in the nomination round if you want to nominate more than 3 entries)

And once you’re done there head over to our more visually inclined brethren and vote for the Anime and Manga Awards as well.

While you’re there, please give @wjs018@ani.social a huge pat on the shoulder for setting up and hosting all the technical stuff for the awards and for just readily running with this stupid idea! In his anime and manga posts, you’ll also find a FAQ for some questions you might have.

Thanks! I think the nomination portion of things is going to be the messiest because everything is a free text entry. That’s why we decided to give ourselves a week to sort through them all. I also plan on whipping up some python to make the exported data from the survey software a bit more readable (seriously, the exported csv it gives me is a giant mess with 65 columns, and hard to read for a human).

If you need help I am happy to try and help with the Anime or Manga ones as well. But I am not up to date with manga so may struggle a bit with it.
