Another week in the books. Let’s chat about manga in the general discussion thread! Feel free to use this thread for questions, comments, recommendations, etc.
Like normal, please be careful with spoilers. I wrote a guide about spoilers in case you need a refresher on how to handle them (also linked in the sidebar).
Just finished the first volume and I am a fan. They don’t really go too into the cooking, but there are some good tips in there. Though, like most other cooking manga, it can be hard to apply outside Japan due to the availability of ingredients being quite lacking (at least in my area).
There is one tip I can provide related to baking croquettes instead of frying from chapter 1:
My tip for this is that I like to pan-fry the bread crumbs (or panko) separately. Simply heat up a pan, coat it with a little bit of oil, then sautee the loose bread crumbs until they are a nice, deep golden-brown color. Then, when you go to bread your meat, use the already browned bread crumbs instead of using them straight out of the box. Then, you can still get a nice toasty and crunchy exterior even when you bake your croquette (or katsu, etc.) instead of frying it!
