I think Himmel benefits a lot from the fact that we only see certain moments of him from Frieren’s memory. If we were literally following him and his party around each episode, it would probably be a lot more annoying. Instead, we just get small doses where it is easier to coutnterbalance the vanity with a moment of incredible sincerity or heroism. Basically, we are just getting a Himmel highlight reel instead of the day to day.
