Another week in the books. Let’s chat about manga in the general discussion thread! Feel free to use this thread for questions, comments, recommendations, etc.
Like normal, please be careful with spoilers. I wrote a guide about spoilers in case you need a refresher on how to handle them (also linked in the sidebar).
I picked up 3 LGBTQ+ manga:
Gal-loving JK Wants to be a Gal
So far, this is a typical lesbian school romance with nothing to differentiate it from other similar works. The “Award Winning” tag got me interested though.
Yuri Yuri Panic ~ An Extremely Precious Affair has Begun!~
This is some weird shit, which makes it perfect for me. The world needs more zany stuff.
Uesugi-kun Wants to Quit Being a Girl
Picked this one up thanks to the discussion thread by @PrincessKadath@ani.social. It reminds me of Maid Hachiya-kun Is In Love and NG Life.
It is one of the few rare instances of works that feature a MTF trans protagonist and actually address the issue of menstruation. Like, you are telling me all those isekai transgender protagonists just accept their new bodies without any complaints and can go straight to adventuring like it’s no big deal!? The only other manga that showcased a transgender lady having her first period in recent memory is Introduction To Girlhood / Shoujo Nyuumon. (And in not-so-recent memory, The Day He Becomes a Woman)
Edit: Just found out that Undead Unluck had just ended. Looks like I’ve got some catching up to do.
Kanojo Ni Haru Hi is a 10 out of 10 for me.
