I called it! Even they know they need a thief to check for traps and mimics! More backstory on the world’s magic, this time the classic divine vs arcane magic divide.

They would all be doomed if it was Frieren managing their finances, not Fern. Poor Stark, being forced to play nobility just to earn his broke party some coins.

This episode is another example of the anime really taking the manga and elevating it to another whole level through stellar animation. It was great to see Sein do his thing and save the party by waking Frieren at just the right time. Also, that dance scene was just incredible. If you are a fan of animation as an art form, then that dance scene was on another level. The choreography, perspective changes, camera rotations, and level of detail made me 100% positive that it was done with heavy CG assistance. However, the animators quickly proved me wrong by releasing some of the key linework they did and were on twitter saying that the whole dance sequence was done with traditional 2D artwork. Just incredible.

Next week is the first cour finale with a couple week break before we pick up again in January for the second cour. I couldn’t be happier with the adaptation so far. This show has wildly exceeded my already high expectations.

Bonus colored manga spread depicting the dance scene.
