      Clippy goes away and you are now alone in the black void. With the removal of this character the thread of prophecy is severed. Restore a saved game to restore the weave of fate, or persist in the doomed void you have created.

    Do I go back as I am now or do I go back as a teenager? If I do age regress do I retain my memories?

      Man, I could do so much with that. It’s fun to think about. The whole future becomes a different place if you have those memories.

      “I know you don’t believe me and you think I’m insane, but I can’t let you come back home. I allowed us to come this far so my daughter would be born. She has the same name, but they aren’t the same person. A different sperm made it to the egg or something. I have no photos to prove it, but I have 15 years of memories. If you come home this kid will experience trauma that I’m certain of. You won’t be happy. You won’t get it together. Not here. Your mom will make you get it together so stay there. That lump in your breast won’t be cancer. You’ll be surprised by the other breast and you won’t even be paying attention because this isn’t malignant. Get regular checkups.”

      I’d go through all of that and then, bam, she gets hit by a bus at 24 because she wasn’t in our personal hell haha.

      Of all the things that could have happened, we got what we got.

      I am not at all where I hoped I’d be, but I’m exactly where I want to be. Any small change could destroy that.

          Well, not the time travel part, but the rest of it yeah. Or…the part of it that isn’t fiction where I think about changes I could make.

          I ended up in a relationship with my childhood best friend. It fell apart. She died 3 years later from cancer. Our kid has been through the wringer.

      If it’s like literally Jan 1 2000 you could go take out Roger Stone and pals. Stop the fake outrage about the election recount. Gore wins Florida. Lots of bad shit the Neocons kicked off never happens.

        Alternate history is messy. Look at all the speculative stories of how time travelers going back to get Hitler end up making a worse future for various reasons. Hitler is likely to have protection by the time police from time traveling “heroes” because so many think this is an easy fix.

    If I could bring back a few books worth of printed paper (in sleeves to keep them safe with a ton of different notes and a bunch of code written down, you bet I’d go back so that way I could alter the history of the internet.
