And I can imagine that for people living in drafty and poorly insulated older Japanese apartments, or if you don’t want to waste energy heating the whole apartment, a kotatsu table is both energy efficient and comfortable.

And I can definitely imagine it’s tough to leave the kotatsu if the room is very cold.
