On February 25, we received an email from a person who signed himself Aaron Bushnell, announcing an act of protest against the genocide of Palestinians.
Tibet was a land grab and is now an ethnic clensing. Im not saying we the west are in chinas pockets I think china simply runs a very efficient supression campaign and that in combination with our cushy lives being somewhat relient on them means we dont want to think about it cos then we have to take responsibility.
Fair enough. I don’t think it’s only our cushy lives though. The influence the US has on Israel compared to China makes a difference. We know of the Uighur situation as well, but there’s not that much we can do than condemning. Sure, trade embargos I guess… But compared to Israel that is very much dependent on the west. There’s a viable way to some sort of solution through sheer influence.
I suppose so. It just seems we might get more action trade embargos, global condemnation etc if more reporting did go on in relation to china. Might help build confidence for those within china who want democracy. They gave up there freedoms in exchange for incredible technological and economic growth and now that said growth has paused the people have started demanding rights. Unsuccessfully for now but from what ive been seeing the people are getting agitated.
Yeah, I hope for the same for Russia. To me it seems like that sort of change has to come from within though. External pressures is put through the internal propaganda machine and out comes agitation. But if they get a movement going I’m sure they’d be heard by the west. The HK demonstrations got a lot of light, not that it helped much… But what else is there to do. We could start a war, but I’m doubtful that will make things better.
