That’s just because you don’t understand FPTP. “Throwing away your vote to 3rd party” is not throwing away anything, it’s giving 1 less vote for Trump to win. Same as not voting at all. Except in reality where unless you live in a swing state, a non vote doesn’t change much. Abstaining in California doesn’t support Trump, nor would Abstaining in Kentucky. Unless the smallest of statistical outcomes happens those states are locked, and if were going to decide based on small possibilities, may as well just vote for a candidate you actually want.
