“If you don’t save your data to someone else’s computer then we can’t monetize it.”

I know they’re not explicitly selling SkyDrive or OneDrive or whatever it’s called now, but they kinda are.

What’s funny is, this file is stored in an encrypted container that does live in the cloud. 😄

Edit: Thanks to user @NoneYa@lemm.ee I now know about F12 in Office applications to bring up the “classic” Save As… dialog. Today I learned!

On most computers, if you hit F12 in any Office application, it will bring the classic Save As window to bypass this bullshit.

It’s also nice if you ever wonder where a document was recently saved. I hit F12 again to see where it last saved.

I use it all the time at work because this has always been such an ugly, convoluted piece of shit to deal with when I just want to save to my local storage.

Years ago we learned useful Microsoft keyboard shortcuts to save time, and passed those around the school yard.

Now we’re learningMicrosoft advertisement/predatory privacy-invasive bypass shortcuts and passing it around the school yard.

I feel like I’m using save locations more than I should be because MacOS has tagging. Just haven’t taken the time to research how useful tags are and, if people like them, the time to get used to it as part of my workflow.
