I genuinely don’t understand why you would subscribe to a community about 4chan greentexts and not expect to see shocking language. Its like going to the beach and being upset that theres sand.

Unlike reddit, there’s no “default subs” on Lemmy. It’s either “all” or “subscribed”. All literally means all communities, so yes, objectionable stuff will show up in your feed. The solution is to block them, then they won’t show in All any more.

The community seems split on this one lol. Makes me think that some of the people who subscribed to this community literally don’t know what a greentext is. Which is nothing new; I made this months ago:

Personally, it takes the fun out of creating OC because I like making edgier memes but there’s no community for it here. And even if something does make people laugh and get upvoted, the mods will take it down. (For example, I made a meme about a pregnant alcoholic mother and it got taken down. Like really? We can’t make abortion jokes?) So fuck it, I mainly just repost now. If you can’t beat em join em.

It seems like some people who aren’t familiar with greentexts don’t quite get the point of the community. You read the ramblings of Anon like you would watch animals at the zoo, which is different than endorsing everything Anon says.

And you shouldn’t. Anon is usually deranged.

Some bad words and unhealthy opinions are bound to make an appearance. In that case, you’re supposed to be dumbfounded at how Anon thinks/acts, shake your head, and maybe get a guilty chuckle out of it. Like the sidebar says, if you’re getting angry while reading these, you’re probably doing it wrong.

At least a couple of Kitboga’s calls have originated in India, but all the characters he plays are as upstanding as they come. Except for this one time at Dave & Buster’s. Kit:

    • never wishes for the plague
    • always respects all varieties of English
    • always respects that not everyone calling everyone else is US-based
    • never uses slurs, and Kit’s

The problem with using dehumanising language like this is that it means that someone’s humanity, in your eyes, is contingent on your approval.

It says more about you as a person than it does about the people you criticise.

I can agree it’s a little bit racist and wrong to tell the story using that sort of slur, and honestly I kind of think likely the entire story is very racist due to being fake and made up to get a laugh at the expense of Indian people, but if it’s real it seems worse to be knowingly bringing harassment down on your coworkers by intentionally antagonizing people for a laugh when you’re supposed to be doing your job, I think that probably does more actual harm.

Ivan or Fritz are real names/surnames from those countries which have completely different meaning now compared to how they were used in wars. Pajeet is a made up name only used so far to hate on Indians/ South Asians.

While yes it is absolutely racist, scammers are not capable of having an identity associated with someone who is on par with humanity. They’re far below animals.

I prefer the term “demihuman” or any other dehumanizing language so they know who they are.

Minus the human trafficked ones of course. Only the vast majority who do it willingly.

Edit: let me clarify. I did not say using racist terminology is correct nor justified. I’m saying that people who scam others are so far removed from the identity of humanity and compassion that they do not deserve the light of day, much less the air they breathe.

I’m a bit lost. I didn’t justify using racist terms. I’m saying that scammers lack the core traits of humanity, compassion and care in others.

And they don’t deserve anything, let alone feeling comfortable in a conversation, or the air they breathe.

That is regardless of race, sex, gender. If you scam someone else, you don’t deserve life.

I get scammed every day on a near daily basis. I get scammed when my landlord raises my rent without fair cause. I get scammed when I look at inflated sale prices at my local grocery store for already shrinkflated goods. I get scammed when I get fees and tips tacked on to my bill when I go to the movie theater or a restaurant. It’s fucking infuriating but I don’t wish death upon my waitress, the store owner, or even my landlord. It’s all just unregulated capitalism in action. Scams, big or small, make money, and money moves us forward.

Just because some degenerate across the world with a funny accent who I will likely never interact with plays by the same rules doesn’t mean he should be thrown into a wood chipper. IMO.

Sorry, when I said “So that’s fun”, I was being sarcastic

But that’s kinda what I was trying to get at. You don’t really know if a scammer is being trafficked or not, so casting a wide net that calls all of them human garbage becomes difficult
