So taking boxes of classified documents, after your term as president is over, is official, presidential business?

I know his lawyers throw shit at the walls, but come on!

Surely there’s some new largely unsettled land we can sail to to escape persecution and form a functional democracy?

I guess that Antarctica will be pretty green soon with people like Trump running things so maybe that’s an option.

Trump himself proposed a new and hilarious twist on MAGA in one of his speeches: “Make America Great And Glorious Again.”

        MAGAGA!

Can’t wait to congratulate his excellency Dear Leader on his sense of humor. /s

Full circle. Makes you wonder what the Declaration of Independence was for. And to Constitution… And like, a huge chunk of American history up til now. They should just go back under Charles. Say what you want about the royals, they do their job as well as a royal is meant to. Monarchies over large populations have their issues, but if this is where they want to head back to…

Correct me if I’m wrong, but that might cover taking the documents, but retaining them… he was no longer president and therefore incapable of taking ‘official’ acts?

Look, Judge Cannon says you raise some good points too. We’ll need some time for written briefs from each side. Due three months from now. Then we’ll need time for written responses, at least another month. We’ll schedule a few days of hearings to really hash through those details. And then she promises to think about it real hard, imply she’ll dismiss the case immediately once the trial begins, but make no actual official ruling yet, that would be premature. Then we have this backlog of other issues to work through of course even though we never actually decided anything yet on this issue. What, you suggest we address these issues in parellel? How dare you speak to a judge in this way, you are being inappropriate!! These issues that have been ruled on many times in the past by other courts as a routine matter are totally novel and demand years of study before a trial can begin!

      Etc etc etc

If he doesn’t win the election and just fire half the justice department next January, she may just push the trial date so far Trump dies of natural causes before it even happens.

For the record, I imagine he could die any day now. His exercise regimen is driving around in a golf cart pretending to play golf, yelling at staff and scarfing McDonald’s hamberders.

        (Yes. Hamberders count as exercise.)

There’s somewhat of a myth in the medical field, that nice patients will have something terrible and are doomed, but cantankerous patients will somehow stay alive through pure channeled hate.

But yes with all the hamberders you would think. And he’s 78, only about 2.5 years younger than Biden. According to actuary tables, roughly 5.3% chance of dying in the next year (7.1% for Biden).

I suspect if you had his actual medical records you would find his chances are significantly higher. he’s not exactly lived a a clean lifestyle. His diet is absolute dogshit (Pizza, burgers, shoe-leather steak with ketchup. Light on the greens.) he lacks any meaningufl excercise (he golfs; but mostly he drives around in a golf cart and hops out for a quick swing… when he’s actually ‘playing’ at all. Mostly he gets the course staff to cheat for him.) He’s obese, too.

we know that the WH doctor during Trump’s presidency was handing out hard drugs like candy; and he probably did more than his share of coke. (and no, I don’t mean the diet coke…)

The only reason he’s still alive, probably, is access to amazing medical care. (which he mostly ignores…)

Biden’s diet is better, he’s active. he’s not obese. and he has that same medical care.

Oh absolutely, those numbers are extremely rough and not specific to any person. Nothing like being rich to help extend your life. And things can just be unfair sometimes too. Some people do seemingly everything wrong health wise and got very lucky, and some do everything right and get unlucky. I would be surprised if Biden didn’t live longer than Trump.

            It’s not really a myth… It’s a sith legend. The Jedi won’t teach it.

That being said, my grandma’s sister is the most vile, racist, nationalist, evil hateful woman I have ever met. She lives off her dead husband’s veteran benefits, social security and Medicare. Never worked a day in her life. She’s survived pneumonia, colon cancer, pneumonia again, first wave COVID, second wave COVID, more cancer. She’s in her nineties. Outlived 3 of her children, and dropped all contact with a fourth.

Sometimes I really think about it, and realize the dark side is a pathway to many abilities, some considered to be unnatural.

Not giving a fuck is one way to lower stress. Poorly processed stress is a cause of illness and a lifetime pattern of badly processed stress can cause chronic illnesses. Stress doesn’t have to have bad effects if it’s processed well by the organism.

There are many different ways to be a bad person, not all of them reduce stress, or improve the ability to process stress, but conceivably some ways could do either or both.

              That’s my hypothesis.

Donald Trump has asked a federal judge to freeze the classified documents case against him in light of a Supreme Court ruling this week that said former presidents have broad immunity from prosecution.

I love that it says former presidents, not presidents in general. I also remember the ruling saying that it was immunity for things that fall within the Presidents “official duties”, of which Roberts gave Trump’s team two examples (pardons and AG/DOJ). I wouldn’t call that “broad immunity”. This very well could be something that Roberts and his co-conspirators had in mind for the “presumptive immunity” type of act though, and the fun part is they didn’t define it so they get to rule if it does/doesn’t, super!

Citing Supreme Court immunity ruling, Biden’s scientists seek to freeze the classified documents case’s defendant in the Antarctic borehole.
