I haven’t gotten to watch this episode yet, but did want to just quickly share with people a bit of an interview with the author in which they explain how Alya was originally developed as an iseakai.
As much as I enjoy watching trash isekai, I’m glad the author dropped that idea. Maybe I’m just overthinking it but I think having a more “real” setting makes it more relatable and appealing for a wider audience, which is something this show deserves. This is definitely something I have no trouble recommending to people (glances at oshi no ko).
The pressure campaign on Masachika finally got him to cave and he is officially joining the student council. Not only that, but he has promised to help Alya become the president (and then got unfairly slapped for it ☹️)
Masachika is one of those people that is good with other people. His social skills are through the roof and he is good at identifying what others’ motivations might be. We saw that in an earlier episode too when he got the class to help Alya with the cultural festival prep by giving them something to be motivated by. It makes sense that this is a major weakness of Alya’s considering her past, so it seems like a good fit for them to work together. Plus, the guy knows how to make an entrance (@rikka@ani.social):
I am interested in how Yuki will take this since she wanted him to help her. Also, it will be interesting to see if anything happens with the Masha storyline.
I forgot to mention that the ED this week is actually a cover of the ED from “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” all the way back in 2006. You can watch the original here.
